HTC loses patent infringement case against Apple (USA)

The U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) has reportedly ruled in favour of Apple, claiming that the US based manufacturer has not violated any patents held by S3 graphics. The patents are considered to be a property of HTC which bought S3 graphics in an attempt to improve its chances in the legal battle with Apple.

According to reports, the decision puts an end to the investigation on Apple’s products, which could have limited the imports of some of its Mac computers, iPhones and iPads. Sources claim that HTC may be looking to challenge the decision in a U.S. court specializing in patent law.

Industry reports reveal that HTC purchased about 235 patents largely related to graphics technology. HTC’s General Counsel, Grace Lei has reportedly said that they are disappointed with ITC’s decision but respect it. ┬áLei also said that while the outcome is not what they hoped for, they will review the ruling once the commission provides it and will then consider all options, including appeal.
