Serbia awards CDMA licences to Telekom Srbija & Media Works Serbia has issued two GDMA licences in its country to liberalise the landline phone market and introduce wireless technology, Ratel reportedly said.
Telekom Srbija and private Serbian company Media Works had placed the best bids at Tuesday’s auction, agreeing to pay 540,000 each for a CDMA technology licence.
“CDMA technology will make internet and landline telephony accessible to more people in Serbia,” Aleksandra Stefanovic, spokesman for Serbia’s telecom regulator RATEL said. “We expect the tender for (the second) landline operator to be called by the end of the year,” she said.
